Variações, a non-profit business association with the capacity of a chamber of commerce, embraces this month, being officially present on June 22nd in Portugal at the Arraial Lisboa Pride 2024, annually promoted by the ILGA Portugal association, and from June 21st to 29th in Greece at EuroPride Thessaloniki 2024.

It all began in late June 1969 with the Stonewall rebellion, which we assert is still not complete.

Year after year, since 1999, following declarations by American President Bill Clinton, June has been marked on the Roman calendar as Gay Pride Month, now extended to the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

Variações, a non-profit business association with the capacity of a chamber of commerce, also embraces this month, being officially present on June 22nd in Portugal at the Arraial Lisboa Pride 2024, annually promoted by the ILGA Portugal association, and from June 21st to 29th in Greece at EuroPride Thessaloniki 2024.

In Greece, the Portuguese delegation will officially receive the LGBTI+ Progress Flag and the handover for hosting EuroPride Lisboa 2025 during the parade on Saturday, June 29th. We will provide updates on this event with the establishment of the EuroPride Lisboa 2025 Association, of which Variações is a board member.

Take note of the “On the Way to EuroPride Lisboa 2025” calendar

There will be more than 32 events from North to South of Portugal, all with their sights set on Lisbon 2025.

Responsible for the Business Committee of the new EuroPride Lisboa 2025 Association – an inter-associative model created to produce and promote this international event which, next year, will bring together dozens of LGBTQIA+ marches from Europe, associated with the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA), and is expected to draw between 500,000 and 1.5 million visitors to the Portuguese capital – Variações offers everyone a fun and cultural program with the following events:

LGBTI Business Press Trip

With enthusiasm and a determination to make things happen, on May 24th, we held the first Press Trip aimed at members of the media and journalists affiliated with the AIEP – Foreign Press Association in Portugal.

The sun was on our side as we, in collaboration with Turismo de Portugal, organized and promoted the first tour of the year focusing on LGBTI businesses, kicking off with a lunch at the Panorama Restaurant offered by the Sheraton Lisboa Hotel & SPA.

After a brief introduction of the association and the business itinerary, we began the afternoon with a visit to a real estate agency owned by our associate – who was the second president of Variações – João Passos.

Addressing the journalists present, João Passos introduced the unique real estate brand in Portugal, LisboaPride, and discussed the impact of real estate mediation work on promoting the city of Lisbon and Portugal as a safe housing destination.

We visited SaunApolo 56 and introduced this unique model of a hetero-friendly mixed sauna in Portugal through Alexandra “Kiki” Pais de Sousa, owner of this LGBTI business model, Variações associate, Vice-President, and Ambassador of EuroPride Lisboa 2025.

Next, we embarked on a cultural visit that included a tour of the “New Age Kids” exhibition by Pauliana Valente Pimentel, dining experiences at Edelweiss Bistro and Manny’s Place, visits to nightlife venues such as Side Bar, Construction Bar, and Bar TR3S, culminating with a visit to the oldest nightclub in Portugal, Finalmente Club.

In June, we will have another itinerary with new destinations, so we invite our associates and media outlets in Portugal to register for the new press trip by emailing geral@variacoes.pt (associate registrations) and press@variacoes.pt (journalist registrations).
